PRE-ENGINEERED STEEL SQUARE GALVANIZED BUILDINGS

What is a Steel Square Galvanized Building?

From the dawn of industrial-age manufacturing, steel has undoubtedly been the most favored material for building strong and durable structures. This is attributed to its higher tensile strength, durability, flexibility of use, recyclability, and cost value.  A Metal Carport is a covered metal structure used to protect your car from heavy rain, and snow. It also prevents from falling debris and windshield freeze. We offer from 10 wide standard up to 100 wide. These type of structures start from 7ft leg height to 20ft leg height.  Galvanized steel has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, but thickness still matters. When the tubing and sheeting are produced for steel buildings, their thickness is one of the measures that determines the sturdiness of the building.

Fact:  Gauge is defined as the unit of steel’s thickness measured in inches or millimeters. The lower the gauge, the thicker and stronger the steel is. Thus, the thicker the steel tubing/framing, the sturdier the building will be.

While you scroll down and look at our, metal steel square galvanized buildings, you may be wondering what gauge are the steel tubing interior as in the framing. There are two gauges used for the frame work. 14 gauge and 12 gauge.  14-gauge steel buildings are the most popular and the most economical. These metal structures can be certified to meet most local wind and snow loads by adding additional features such as anchors and braces to the structure.  14 gauge measures  2 ½” x 2 ½” in diameter.

On the other hand,  Our 12 gauge framing is 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” in diameter and has a higher tensile strength that provides higher snow load and wind load ratings. Which is why we recommend the 12 gauge steel for areas with heavy snow and high winds, as well as carports 10’ and taller or more than 30’ in width. With these type of buildings the metal gauge on roof and walls come standard 29 GAUGE, but you can upgrade to 26 GAUGE as well.   Thicker panels are more expensive and are not a necessity for every type of structure. You have to take factors such as climate, building structure and budget into consideration to determine which gauge is the best choice for your project. These buildings come standard horizontal walls, however once we expand to a 32 wide and 15ft height the structure becomes automatically vertical walls.  The majority of residential homes in the United States are made with horizontal siding, mostly due to tradition and price. Building a home with vertical siding requires adding furring strips, which raises the cost of this option.  Vertical Siding is generally more durable than horizontal. This is because rain pours down vertically. When rain hits your vertical siding, it drips down to the ground naturally. With horizontal siding, there is the potential for rainwater to get trapped between boards and could cause long-term issues.  The choice is your !
